It was 40 years ago, on Oct. 20, 1982, Bruce Sutter whiffed Gorman Thomas as the Cardinals won Game 7 of the 1982 World Series.

150 officers, 20 dogs and 12 horses couldn't keep St. ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëùµ¼º½ÍøÖ· fans from storming the field.

"Our goal was to keep people off the field," the assistant chief of police said. "I thought we had enough people to do that. But once the game ended I realized we couldn't have done that even if we had the Missouri National Guard with us."
